- The White Mesa are part of the larger Ute Mountain Ute tribe located in Tawaoc, Colorado.
- Members of the White Mesa Utes acted as guides for the famed Dominguez-Escalante expedition in 1776.
- The Utes at White Mesa are the only tribe to celebrate the Bear Dance in the fall. All others celebrate in the spring.
- Over 75% of the White Mesa tribe vote in tribal elections, which is a high percentage for Native American tribes.
